nah und fern zu Workshop, Dance Night mit Livemusik und DJ Paul |

Die diesjährige Veranstaltung der Bayport Stompers zeigte sich mit einigen Neuerungen. Durch den Einsatz von Kamera und Beamer konnten die Teilnehmer am Workshop Alice Berini beim lernen der Tänze auch dann sehen, wenn sie sich um 180° drehen mussten, denn an der gegenüber liegenden Seite stand eine grosse Leinwand zur Verfügung. |
This year's Bay Stompers event featured some new ideas. For example, the use of a camera and beamer enabled the participants at Alice Berini's workshop to see themselves dancing even when turning 180°, as a large screen had been set up on the opposite side. |

Nach zwei Stunden Workshop haben wir uns mit Hackplätzli,
Kartoffelstock garniert mit Bohnen im Speck gerollt, Karotten und Salat,
und was es so alles Gutes gab gestärkt. |
After two strenuous hours of workshop we recharged our batteries with hamburger patties served with mashed potato and bacon-wrapped green beans, carrots and salad,and a dazzling array of desserts. | |

Das Abendprogramm eröffnete DJ Paul ab 19:30
Uhr mit diversen Line Dance Hits, und schon vom ersten Ton an, wurde
fleissig getanzt. Als weitere Neuerung konnten die nächstfolgenden
vier Original-Tänze und allfällige Alternativen auf der Leinwand
der Bühne angesehen werden, was für viele eine gute Möglichkeit
war, ihren Tanzabend zu gestalten. |

The evening program was opened by DJ Paul at 7.30
pm with various line dance hits, and everybody was dancing enthusiastically
right from the very first beat. A further innovation consisted in displaying
the next four original dances and possible alternatives on the screen
set up on the stage so that people could arrange their own dance programme. |

Höhepunkt des Abends war das Konzert der mehrfach
ausgezeichneten Country Band Honky Tonk Pickers. |
The highlight of the evening was the concert by
the well known “Honky Tonk Pickers”, a
country band with numerous awards. |
|
Von den Balladen, Two Steppers bis zu
Rockabilly, Western Swing und vielen Shuffles - man wird zurück-versetzt
in die Zeit der rauchigen Honky Tonks von, wo man noch Tanzen, klatschen
und “A GOOD TIME” haben durfte. Im Repertoire bleibt auch
Platz für mit eigenen Ideen angereicherte, moderne Songs der aktuellen
Honky Tonk Szene. |
From ballads to rockabilly to western swing, you will find
yourself two-stepping, waltzing or shuffling to the great sound of the
Honky Tonk Pickers. Let them take you back in time
to the smoky dance halls and honky tonks of Texas where you can kick
up your heels, clap your hands and have a great time! In addition to
performing traditional honky tonk music, the Honky Tonk Pickers also
write and perform their music in the same traditional, yet unique and
original style that is their own. With his deep, strong voice lead singer
Juan Peduto, (raised in Canada), sings along to the accompaniment of
four background vocals and instruments such as the steel guitar, dobro,
guitar, bass and drums. Though all of the band members are from Switzerland,
they are well known and warmly welcomed all over Europe, playing frequently
in France, Austria, Germany and of course Switzerland. Their last album
entitled “Right On The Nose” won the Austrian Music Federation’s
“International Album of the Year.” This earned them international
acclaim and recognition all over Europe. With over 50 live concerts
annually, and nominations for “Band of the Year” and “Newcomer
of the Year” in both Switzerland and Austria, the Honky Tonk Pickers
are on their way to becoming one of the most successful country bands
in Europe. Their exceptional musical talent combined with their energetic
and enthusiastic interaction with the audience will make attending their
next concert an experience you will never forget! |

Mit den Honky Tonk Pickers und der Komminkation
mit dem DJ war es möglich, den möglichen Tanz zum nächsten
Song der Band anzusagen, dies galt natürlich ausschliesslich für
unsere Tänze, die bei uns gelernt wurden. |

Good communication between the Honky Tonk Pickers and the DJ made it possible to announce the suitable dance or dances for the band's next song. Of course, this applied exclusively to the dances we teach and learn. |

DJ Paul bridged the time between the different sets of the
band with various well-known line dance numbers. |

Als dieser Abend nach Mitternacht zu Ende ging,
waren sich alle einig, eine gelungene Veranstaltung war zu Ende gegangen.
